I should really start by saying that I absolutely love body modification, and get the urge to have something new every few months at least! I already have snakebites, nose, stretched lobes and cartilage and navel pierced, as well as four tattoos which include a sleeve in progress.
For the last few months I've been toying with the idea of getting venoms, but as I am starting back at university in a few weeks, decided that maybe I should wait to get them at a more appropriate time when I won't have to be articulate for a while!!
Then today I was browsing BME looking at nipple piercings, and I remembered that last year I had really wanted to get mine done, but my ex didn't like the idea so I had forced it out of my mind...well, now I am single, and I can do what I want!
I have never really been confident about my breasts, and I thought that maybe if they were pierced I would feel more comfortable about showing them, especially as I love them pierced on other people. There was also of course the fact that I have heard that it can increase sensitivity!
So, this afternoon I was online and said to a friend, who is also into mods, that I wanted to get them done. She asked me when, and when I replied "Now!" she said she would come and get me and take me into Falmouth to my tattooist.
When we got there however, he was fully booked, and I was so hyped up that I just said I would go to Truro as my friend's tattooist had said he had time.
When we got there, we were greeted with huge smiles from the staff and we chatted for a while whilst Carl, the artist, set up the bench and instruments.
I have to say, I absolutely love my own tattooist, and was nervous about going to someone else for my first piercing in over two years, but I was instantly put at ease with Carl's relaxed manner, he was really funny and we joked about how attractive we both found pierced nipples!
So. I sat down on the bench, and was told to "whip my vest off", meanwhile I had realised that I didn't have enough money one me. He said he would do them for less as he knew my friend which was great, so it was only Ј35.
As he marked me up I felt no self consciousness at all, as he was so professional, although I did remark on the fact that I was a bit naked! Once I had a look and decided the placing was perfect, I lay down and he cleaned the area and clamped up my left nipple. I had already decided to have them done vertically, just because I think it looks nicer, and I have quite small nipples and I thought it would compliment them a bit more. I have heard a lot of times that the clamps are painful but it wasn't at all. Of course the needle hurt but only for a second or so, and when I looked down I giggled at the needle just sitting in my boob! The barbell hurt a wee bit as it went through, but he was onto the right so fast that I didn't really have enough time to think about it.
Once both were in I sat up, looked in the mirror to check them, and immediately fell in love! they looked so perfect, and I was happy with my breasts for the first time in ages. I wasn't dizzy or anything so I walked to the ATM and got the extra tenner out, and after a promise I would be back to get my tongue done at some point, we left; me clutching my chest to stop being bounced by the car!
The only pain I have had since was a bit of stinging for a couple of hours but now, two and a half hours (and a pint) later I can hardly feel them. I cleaned a tiny bit of blood off when I got home before nipple jewelry shield I showed my mum, who was, as always, ok with it, despite rolling her eyes, and I can't stop looking at them in the mirror!!
I'm not too worried about the healing process; I am used to looking after piercings and I am hoping that as long as I do everything right these will be fine. So worth it anyway!
If you're thinking about getting your nipples pierced, I say go for it. Yes, it hurts, but so do most piercings and I must say this was much easier then my lips. A few seconds of pain, but for so much pleasure!

Navel Piercing
I did not ever think of really getting my navel pierced until my friend suggested it to me. My friend, the same one that I got my tattoo with, recently got a navel piercing kit. Really it was just a clamp and needle, but it had all the items we needed to pierce. My friend already had her navel rings which she did herself with a safety pin so I did not doubt her ability to pierce mine, so we began attempt number one.
We did not really mark where I wanted to be pierced so we just started to get'er done. I picked out the ring I wanted from her collection of them and we cleaned it in alcohol. Another friend, who had been recently pierced by the same person, held the clamp in place while helping me pick out a song. I was lying sideways on a bed and my piercer/friend had on gloves and the sanitized needle. She eye-ball'd where the piercing was going to be and asked me if I was ready. I did not want to know when it was going to happen so I responded with a 'just do it'. I was scared. I kept taking big, deep breaths until I felt the needle go through. The actual piercing hurt A LOT, especially the part where she had to put alcohol on it but there was not any blood. It was sore afterwards, but the pain lessened to the point where it was just a little annoying. I complained of how it was crooked and my friend told me to just stretch it to where I want the piercing to be so for the most part I was just excited and happy.
I Google'd how to take care of my new piercing and also if it was possible to somehow move over the piercing so it would be straight. I tried stretching it over which hurt but did not do much else. The piercing would stay in the right spot for a few seconds than slowly move back to where it was. I even tried sleeping with a piece of tape over it stretched to the right spot but it also did not do anything. On the internet, all the stories I read said to take out the piercing, wait, and just get it pierced again. I was bummed of course because I did not want to take it out but I would rather have no piercing than a crooked one. Seriously, I would not want to deal with the pain of a piercing I was not wholly satisfied with anyways.
I sadly took the piercing out and forgot there was some dried gunk on it and that ended up scraping the inside of my piercing. The hole closed up fairly quickly and in about two weeks later the piercing healed to a small scar where I was pierced. I actually asked this piercer online what I should do before I took out the piercing but he just told me to give his store a call and I was too lazy. I probably should have called. Thinking all was well I called up my friend for round two. I gave my friend back her jewelry and instead bought my own but I think it was some unsafe cheap jewelry cause it only cost me about 7 dollars. This time I marked where I wanted it to be with a Crayola marker and she pierced it again except me on a flat surface and straight. The piercing did not hurt at all which surprised me because that was pretty much the only reason why I did not want to pierce it again. When she was done the piercing did start to bleed and that worried me because the previous one had been completely problem free. My friend reassured me that it was okay because another girl she had pierced also bled and I am guessing nothing else was wrong. I could already think of a handful of reasons why my piercing would be messed up but so far I have not had much of a problem.
I'm thinking of changing the jewelry even though it has not healed just because my current one is this cheap plastic stuff and I'm worried it could get me infected. Also if the piercing is irritated by the material it can slow the healing time. The bleeding kind of stopped but it has been oozing with hopefully white blood cell gunk. Also the top part of the jewelry started to scab a bit but I washed it with soap and it went away. Now I'm just hoping for a quick healing process so I do not have to worry about it anymore. I'm pretty happy with my new piercing and am thinking of a couple more now that I am pretty accustomed to the pain. If anyone were to pierce themselves DIY style I would suggest buying high quality jewelry and to make sure you pierce it correctly the first time so it can be the last time. It was free to do mine so the trouble I had to go through for no expense was not so terrible that I wish I had gotten it done professionally.

my painful, yet lovely industrial
So I was in Fort Collins, Colorado visiting family and we were shopping in town. My father was bored so I asked him if he would bring me to get a piercing. Of course, he said no--I already have too many piercings.. bellybutton, all DIY--do not DIY though.. lip, cartilage orbital, plugs, second holes, and another cartilage piercing I took out so I could get my industrial. I was originally going to get an industrial last summer in Colorado when I was going to get my tattoo, but due to an extremely bad hangover, I could not move out of bed or away from the toilet to get to Millennium.
Two days later we were on our way to the New Belgium Brewery and I asked both of my parents again if I could go get a piercing. My dad said no.. My mom said no, I asked again.. she said we will see. [that means if I keep bugging, then probably yes] And only if it wasn't big or ugly [no facial piercings, no more plugs ha]
On our way back from the brewery, I asked again.. she said yes, if there is not a wait. She thought that there would probably be a wait.. because there was last year.. We parked and my mom and I went into Millennium, Sandy was at the desk.. she said there was no wait.. told me the price and we filled out the paperwork. I had forgotten my ID, because I had been so excited I just ran out of the car and into the shop. So I ran back out to the car and got my ID.. we filled out the rest of the paperwork and sat down. I explained to my mom what piercing I was going to get.. she looked disgusted. I told her this place was clean and I will keep it clean so it wont get infected.. I can put clear plastic through it for basketball games.. etc.
After waiting for 15-25 minutes [and describing what an industrial is to my mother] Sandy called me in and told me what she was going to do and let me ask questions. She gave me answers to all of my questions and when i asked if it would hurt.. she said yes. In my head, I was thinking, i can still back out and leave, we did not even pay yet! But I decided i was not going to let myself back out, I was going to go through with my decision and get this piercing. It would not hurt that much.. would it?!
After opening new sterile needles, washing her hands, getting clean gloves, etc, Sandy marked my ear and showed me.. after moving the marks a little bit, she told me to lay down. I was really nervous, I hate needles, but she calmed me down. She talked to me and told me to breathe and relax, one of the guys came over and held my hair off my ear and watched as she counted to three and pushed the needle through the top of my ear. And wow, did it hurt. She told me the first half was over and now she was going to do the second part. After making the second hole, she put the barbell through and took the needle out.. and screwed the balls on. She explained the aftercare to me, gave me a pamphlet and some lotion, we paid, and we were done. Despite the bleeding, the swelling, the pain, and the throbbing.. I was so excited! I got to go show it off to everyone and gross my mom out with it.
It was definitely the most painful piercing I have ever had done, but it was well worth it. It bled for the first couple days and was throbbing until I took some Aleve. Now I get to go show it off to all of my friends. It's still a little swollen a few weeks after but I am sure it will go away with time. My mother does not exactly love it, but she deals. It hurt to sleep on for week or two but not so much anymore, but Sandy told me not to sleep on it for a few months because it would aggravate it piercing cool.
If you are thinking about getting an industrial, go for it. It is worth the few seconds of pain piercing club! And if you are in Colorado, I highly praise Millennium--it is an extremely clean and calm environment. The people are very nice and knowledgeable. I am planning on waiting until next summer to get anymore piercings, because not only will I be 18 and able to get piercings without my parents permission, I will be in Fort Collins again and able to go to Millennium. I plan on getting a tattoo Body peircing My Space and a piercing next time!
